Wanda Lynn Laney Moncus “Wawee”, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many has passed away on March 18, 2025.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 41 years, Scott Moncus; her children, Ryan Moncus, Brandon Moncus (Jayme), and Brooke Peters (Brad); her grandchildren Braydon Moncus, Camden Moncus, Abby Kate Peters, Knox Moncus, Emma Moncus, Laney Brooke Peters, Annie Beth Peters, Case Peters, Crew Peters, Lettie Mae Peters, and Hagen Moncus; her siblings Bobby Laney (Sandy), Donna Jackson (Bill), Rhonda Terry (Brad); her nieces and nephews Gareth Laney, Ben Jackson, Morgan Jackson, Clint Jackson, Caleb Jackson, Ellie Jackson, Allie Jackson, Izzy Jackson, Colby Terry, Courtney Arsenault, Chloe Bridges, Autumn Laney, Tiffany Laney, and many great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Don and Faye Laney, her brother Donnie Laney, and her grandson Dallas Moncus.
Wanda was born in Lafayette, AL and resided in Lanett, AL. She graduated from Lanett High School and attended college at Harding University. She has worked several jobs in managing businesses. She has been a faithful follower of Jesus all her life, attending services at Church of the Highlands- Opelika with her family, and sharing her love of God with everyone she could get to listen.
Wanda’s greatest legacy is how well she has loved her husband, kids, grandkids, family, and friends. Her life has deeply impacted those she loves. May we never forget to love well like she has and honor her by living for Jesus. As we grieve our loss, we grieve with hope knowing we will be reunited in heaven.
Services for visitation will be held at Spring Road Christian Church Friday, March 21, 2025, from 6-8 PM ET. The funeral will be held at Spring Road Christian Church Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 2:30 PM ET with the graveside to follow at Hill Crest Cemetery.
