December 19, 1967 ~ August 16, 2025 (age 57)

Sandra Kay Sims, lovingly known to all as Sandy, found eternal peace on August 16, 2025, at her cherished home in Beauregard, Alabama. Born on December 19, 1967, in Detroit, Michigan, Sandy’s journey was marked by moments of joy, deep familial connections, and a radiance that touched everyone around her.

Emanating warmth and compassion, Sandy’s life was a story of love for her family, which stood as a testament to her generous and nurturing spirit. She was a beloved mother to Shauntae Fagan (Robert), Ashley McGhee (Sergio), Kyle Salter (Dan Bi), and Kaylee Salter, who will carry forth her legacy with love and honor. Her siblings, Bill Sims (Joanne), Dawn Miller (Billie), Wanda Miller (Benny), Sheila Hylton (Kevin), and Shawn Sims, will fondly remember the strength and comfort of her presence. Sandy’s grandchildren, London, Amia, Skye, Messiah, Jase, Rayliegh, Ledger, Journey, Ellsie, Ruby, and the eagerly awaited baby McGhee, were the delight of her life, each one graced by her enduring affection and motherly tenderness. To her nieces and nephews, Sandy was a figure of unwavering support, and her sister-in-love, Michelle Rhodes (Rodney), alongside her mother-in-love, Mildred Thomas, shared in the unique bond of kinship that Sandy naturally cultivated.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nadean and William Sims; son, Andrew Salter; brother, Mike Sims; sister, Cindy Fleissner.

Sandy’s passions reflected the simplicity of life’s greatest pleasures. She was an ardent supporter of the University of Alabama, her spirit soaring with the Crimson Tide. Those who knew her will remember the melodies of old country songs that often filled her home, creating an atmosphere of warmth and nostalgia. The beach was her haven, where the tranquility of the waves matched her own serene soul.

Her affection for family gatherings was unparalleled, and Sandy’s penchant for cooking turned every meal into a festive celebration of togetherness. The gentle touch of a backrub from any willing family member was always a welcomed comfort, an act of service that reflected her own giving nature.

Sandy lived a life characterized by loving acts, kind words, and thoughtful gestures. Through her everyday presence, she taught those around her the profound beauty of caring deeply for others.

Now, as we honor the beautiful life of Sandy Kay Sims, we reflect on the indelible mark she left on the world. With hearts filled with gratitude for the time spent with her, we bid farewell to a radiant soul whose memory will forever be a beacon of love and kindness.
