Sandra Yvonne Clark Fretwell, a beacon of love and gentility, passed away in Columbus, Georgia, on August 24, 2025, just shy of her 83rd birthday. Born on August 28, 1942, in West Point, Georgia, Sandra’s life full of family, friendships, and fervent interests that brought joy to all who knew her.

The cherished daughter of Robert and Alma Butler, who preceded her in death, Sandra matured into a remarkable woman whose legacy is one of unwavering affection and tender care.

Her presence was a comfort to her family and friends, leaving an indelible impression of warmth and kindness on every heart she touched. Sandra’s world forever revolved around her adoring family.

She was the proud mother of her son Steve Crawley and his wife Tamara, and her daughter Kristy Hill. Her life was further enriched by her role as a grandmother to Paul Jacob Crawley (Becky), Justin Crawley, Amber Hayes, Brittany Hill, and Hunter Hill (Addie). Sandra found immense delight in her great-grandchildren Laile Crawley, Navaeh Crawley, Isabella Rock, Brandon Rock III, and Ellie Jade Hill, with whom she shared countless cherished moments. Sandra is also survived by, brother, Jimmy Butler (Debbie) along with their children, Jim (Alexandria) and Crystal, sister, Linda Williams and her children Ricky (Leanne), Terri (James), and Jason (Carmen), plus many other great nieces and nephews.

The passing of her daughter Kim Crawley, and grandson Jarod Crawley, were deep sorrows that she bore with an enduring grace. Throughout her professional journey, Sandra touched many lives as a substitute teacher and librarian at Glenwood School. Her gentle demeanor and patient guidance left a lasting impact on the young minds she encountered there.

Her work as a cashier at Quick Check allowed her to be a beloved figure in her community, known for her infectious smile and a heartening word for every customer. Sandra’s interests were a testament to her zest for life and the joy she found in everyday moments. She loved to sing, dance, and style hair.

Described by those who knew her as loving and gentle, Sandra will be remembered for the soft strength she emanated and the unconditional love she extended to all.

Her life was a dance of grace and love—a true legacy that will resonate through the generations. Sandra’s story does not end here; it lives on in the hearts of those who loved her and in the beauty of a life well-lived.
