On Wednesday, the Opelika Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2025 State of the City Address.
It was an incrediile night as the community united in celebrating the City of Opelika’s successes and marking Mayor Gary Fuller’s final State of the City address. Mayor Fuller’s dedication to the city has been truly remarkable, and last night was a fitting tribute to his legacy.
“Tonight I gave my final State of the City report. The current term ends October 31st. City election for mayor and all council members will be August 26. It was a very pleasant surprise when Ginny Fuller Wright and Gary, Jr. came home for this event. Many thanks to the Opelika Chamber of Commerce for hosting this annual gathering”, said Mayor Fuller.
The evening highlighted so much to be proud of in Opelika. From economic growth and development to initiatives focused on improving the lives of the Opelika citizens.
The night also included the announcement of the Downtown Buisness of the year which waas awarded to Red Clay Brewing.
Opelika Police were present for the historic night as arguably the greatest mayor in the history of Opelika adressed the city in his final State of the City Address.
“We were particularly proud to see the spotlight shine on the positive impact of community partnerships and programs aimed at enhancing public safety. The impressive results, including a nearly 7% decrease in major crimes and a 12.2% decrease in violent crime over the past five years, are a testament to the hard work and collaboration of so many across Opelika”, said Opelika Police.
