Milford Moore, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at the age of 91 in Columbus, GA. Born on June 26, 1934, in Fairfax, AL, Milford touched the lives of many with his kind, wise, and loving nature.
A patriot at heart, Milford proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Valley Forge. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career at Uniroyal, where he dedicated many years before his retirement. Milford’s entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as the owner of the cherished camp Halawaka store at the long bridge on Lake Harding, AL and Moore’s Grocery in Mechanicsville, AL, where he became a well-known figure in the community.
Milford was a member of Fairfax Methodist Church, where his faith and fellowship were a testament to his character. He found joy in being amongst his family and friends, and his presence was a comforting and unifying force at home and within his community. His time spent with grandchildren earned him the title of SuperPaw and his legacy will live on through their loving memories.
Left to honor Milford’s memory are his son, Randy (Anita) Moore, daughter, Christie (Marvin) Sykes, beloved grandchildren, Bryan (Lindsey) Moore, Jacob Moore, Laura (Cody) Delee, Colton (Paula) Sykes, Abby (Alex) Brown, LaNesa Smith, Chris (Leigh) Smith, Jonathan Smith, and Shane (Crystal) Garrett, along with twenty-two great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Milford’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love and dedication, and his legacy will continue to live on through them.
Milford was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Mildred Moore, his parents, Payton and Ida Moore, his son, Greg Alan Moore, his daughters, Debra Moore Garrett and Patricia Moore Smith, and his grandson, Michael Chon Bailey. They have now welcomed him into eternal rest with loving arms.
Milford Moore’s life was defined by the positive impact he made on everyone he met. He was a beacon of kindness and wisdom, and his loving nature was a source of strength and inspiration to his family. His memory will be treasured and kept alive through the stories and life lessons he imparted to all who had the honor of knowing him.
Graveside services for Milford will be held on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025, at 11:00 PM (EDT) at Fairfax Cemetery in Valley, Alabama. Brother Ricky Thomaston will officiate.
