Post: Lanett High Begins First Phase Of Stadium Upgrade

Lanett High School began Construction for Phase One, the first of upgrades at Morgan Washburn Stadium which will include a new turf field. The Chambers Ledger spoke with an exited Lanett High School Football Coach R.J. McDonald regarding the project.

The estimated cost of the astroturf is $1.2M, and with the upgrades of a new surrounding track, scoreboard, updated play clocks, enhanced stadium lighting, and a new press box we are looking at an estimated cost of $1.5M.

 

“This is about investing in the future of Lanett”, said Lanett City Schools Superintendent Jennifer Boyd.

Funding for the complex upgrades will come from grants as well as the city which agreed to allocate $100,000 a year over the next five years.

A championship program will be displaying a championship facility for the upcoming school year.
