Jason Howard Williams, age 52, of Valley, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Born on March 19, 1973, at Martin Army Hospital in Fort Benning, Georgia, Jason lived a life defined by kindness, service, and an unwavering love for his family, friends, and community.
He is survived by his sister, Jennifer Goodwin; brother-in-law, Jeff Goodwin; and his treasured nieces, Jaylin and Jenna Goodwin, who were the light of his life. In addition, he is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends and colleagues who loved him deeply. He was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Rev. Bill Williams and Joy Hatchett Williams.
Jason was a proud graduate of Valley High School (Class of 1991). He continued his education at Southern Union State Community College before earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Auburn University in 1994, graduating cum laude. His love of learning and dedication to personal growth led him to complete his MBA at Auburn in 1997 and pursue additional graduate studies and certifications at several universities, including The Ohio State University, University of Alabama, University of Georgia, University of Kentucky, and the University of Texas at Austin.
For over 25 years, Jason dedicated his professional life to the Georgia Department of Labor – Vocational Rehabilitation Program, where he served as Employment Specialist, Human Resources Training Coordinator, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and most recently, Counselor 3. He took great pride in helping hundreds of individuals with disabilities across west Georgia achieve meaningful employment and educational opportunities. His compassion and advocacy left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Jason was a lifelong member of Langdale United Methodist Church and an active member and leader in many civic organizations, including the City of Valley Historic Preservation Commission, Chattahoochee Valley Historical Society, Kiwanis Club of Valley, Sons of the American Revolution, Georgia Rehabilitation Association, and the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation Advisory Board. His service reflected his deep love for his community and his desire to make it a better place.
Above all, Jason will be remembered for his warm smile, his quick wit, and his generous heart. He never met a stranger, loved Auburn football, and cherished time spent with family and friends. A talented genealogist and historian, Jason had a lifelong passion for learning and took great pride in mapping out the family’s history, preserving stories and connections that will be treasured for generations to come. He also had a special place in his heart for his canine nephews, whose companionship brought him great joy.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Johnson Brown Funeral Home.
Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:30 PM Eastern Time.
Interment will take place at Langdale Cemetery immediately following the service. The Reverend Paul Messer will officiate.
