On Saturday, the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Kids Fishing Rodeo from Hardley Creek, near the West Point Dam. The fishing began at 9:30 a.m. EST. This year, five fish were tagged, and the kids who caught one or more of the tagged fish were eligible for a cash prize. As an estimated 150 kids reeled in fish, 1,200 pounds of fish were dumped into the creek.
Johnny’s Pizza of West Point catered for the event and provided delicious food for the anglers. Bait was provided by Bluffton Bait and Tackle.

“This year we partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service“, said GVACC Executive Director Carrie Wood.
9-year-old Brady Riley from Valley caught the only tagged fish of the day and was the recipient of a $100 prize.
Riley, a student at Fairfax Elementary, said reeling in the fish was a struggle, but he was confident that he could bring it in.
