October 26, 1935 ~ March 23, 2025 (age 89)
Frankie Ray Langley Sr., 89, of Valley passed away Sunday morning at his residence. Mr. Langley was born on October 26th, 1935, to Jep Langley and Lillian Smith Langley of Lafayette, AL. He was the third child of Mr. and Mrs. Langley. He had an adventurous life enlisted in the USMC as a Private First Class and as a Sharpshooter. Then, he began to work for West Point Pepperell Textile Mill. He retired from West Point Stevens as a Supervisor. After retiring, he enjoyed various hobbies, from woodworking to spending time with his family and friends. His most preferred hobby was working in his garden.
He is preceded in death by his Father Jep Langley, Mother Lillian Langley, and His siblings Bobby Langley, Wayne Langley, Nick Langley, and Francis Reeves. His sons are Frankie Ray Langley Jr. and James Gregory Sturges. Grandson Jeremy Heath Still. Great Grandchildren: Thomas, Luke, and Greenlee Rae Sharp; Millie Jo Jacobs.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Mildred Langley. Brother J.W. Langley. Mr. Frankie Langley children Sidar (Randall) Still of Huguley, Jeri Tines of Lanett, Sandra (Robert) Laney of Valley. Leann Messer of Lynn Haven, FL. Keith (Rita) Sturges of Ellijay GA. Grandchildren: Jennifer Mullenix-Still, Brandi (Eric) Sharpe, Cody (Tiffany) Still, and Erin (Troy) Smith. Zachary Tines. Robert Gareth (Chloe) Laney, Cassie (Michael) Jacobs, Colton Messer, and Josh (Ashley) Sturges. Great-grandchildren: Jaylin Still, Hadley Sharpe, Cambryn Still, Cheyenne Still, Rylee Smith, Baylee Smith, Bentley Smith, Grant Laney, Gentry Laney, Amelia Laney, Sawyer Jacobs, Finn Jacobs, Everley Jacobs, and Lyric Sturges. Sister-in-law, Barbara Carmack.
Mr. Langley was beloved by his family and friends. He was a dedicated Christian. He has always made sure to put God and Jesus first in his life and always wanted to make sure his family and friends followed in his path. Throughout his life after retiring, he has always kept his Supervisor ways. He is going to be missed greatly by everyone who knew him.
Funeral services for Mr. Langley will be held on Thursday, March 27th, 2025, at 2:30 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Johnson Memorial Gardens. Kenneth Overby and Pastor Tommy Smith will officiate. Mr. Langley’s family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday afternoon from 1:30 PM (EDT) until the service hour.
