A former LaGrange police officer and his wife are now facing RICO charges in connection to a case that began with his arrest last year.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Tuesday that Josh and Brandy Clower were reindicted on June 30 under RICO — Violation of the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
Josh Clower had been charged in June 2024 with theft by taking, theft by conversion, and exploitation of an elderly person over 65. He allegedly stole more than $7,000 from an elderly person’s checking account for his own use, the GBI said in a press release last year.
Brandy Clower was charged in May of 2023 with theft by taking and exploiting and intimidating an elderly person after she allegedly stole more than $500,000 from her place of employment.
Both investigations were handled by the GBI since Josh Clower was an LPD lieutenant at the time of his arrest. A GBI spokesperson said Tuesday the RICO charges are a continuation of the cases on both Clowers, and the matter is now with the district attorney for prosecution.
