Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Joiner Landreth, the embodiment of love and kindness, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her adoring family, on March 18, 2025. Born on March 27, 1946, in Alexander City, Alabama, Liz was a gentle soul who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered.
Liz is survived by her cherished husband, Charles Terrell “Terry” Landreth, with whom she built a legacy of love and devotion. Her spirit will be carried on by her children, Robin Ann Landreth, Adam William Landreth (wife Ashley), and Heath Terrell Landreth; and her treasured grandchildren, Anberlin and Ayrton Landreth, all of whom were the light of her life. Although preceded in death by her parents, William Joiner and Annie Bertha Hearn Joiner, as well as her siblings, Gene Joiner, Willie Joiner, Betty Dye, Effie King, Linda Browning, and Henry Joiner, Liz’s radiant love touched every branch of her family tree.
Liz devoted her time and energy to the First Baptist Church of Shawmut, where she not only nurtured faith through teaching Sunday school but also left a lasting impact with her warmth and guidance. Her altruism knew no bounds as a volunteer and Treasurer at the Christian Service Center, embodying a spirit of benevolence that inspired others to extend a helping hand.
Those who knew Liz will fondly remember her as an avid reader who found solace and joy in the pages of countless books. Liz’s embrace was renowned—she was known for giving the most heartfelt hugs. Her presence was a source of comfort and happiness to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Family gatherings and tending to her flower garden were among her favorite pastimes, moments where her loving, kind, and gentle nature was most evident.
Liz’s legacy will be forever cherished as an everlasting bloom in the gardens of our memories, a testament to a life beautifully lived and graciously shared.
A memorial service for Liz will be held on Friday, March 21st, 2025, at 11:00 AM (EDT) at the First Baptist Church of Shawmut. Pastor Kevin James will officiate. Liz’s family will receive friends Friday morning from 10:00 AM (EDT) until the service hour at the church. In lieu of flowers, Liz’s family asks that donations be made to the Christian Service Center, PO Box 227, Lanett, Alabama 36863, in her memory.
