September 17, 1948 ~ October 12, 2025 (age 77)
David Wayne Tidwell, Sr., of Beulah, AL., passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, surrounded by family.
He was born on September 17, 1948, in Lafayette, AL and grew up an active happy kid. He loved basketball. In fact, he always had a goal up at home and was a star player on his high school team. He was always helpful to anyone in need whether it be neighbors, family, friends, or strangers. He loved fast sporty cars and always had the fastest of his buddies.
David graduated from Chambers County High School in 1966 and was accepted into trade school before being drafted into the Army. He spent 8 weeks at basic training in Fort Benning, GA and was stationed in Fort Polk, LA., before shipping off to Vietnam. During his service he was awarded Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Service Star, and the Army Commendation Medal.
After the military he graduated from Southern Union State Community College with an associate’s degree and went on to work in manufacturing plants until the day he retired.
David was a simple man. He loved cutting grass and tooling around in his yard or riding the four-wheeler to check in on neighbors. He made sure the streets were clean, lent a helping hand without expecting anything in return, and loved hosting a yard full of folks to grill and play on the lake.
He is survived by his children, David Tidwell, Jr. (Calley), Delaina Tidwell, and Karen Brunner (Nick); bonus daughter, Johnett Brown; and three beloved grandchildren; Trinity, Cameron, and Scotty. His siblings: Donald Tidwell and Jennifer Caldwell (Reggie), along with many nieces and nephews that he kept in touch with. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Francis Tidwell, and sister Jackie Tidwell.
David was a dedicated and present father and family member, resilient and steadfast when facing many difficulties, and always loyal and trustworthy. He led with integrity and lived a long-fulfilled life.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley, AL. on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, with visitation at 9 a.m. CST/ 10 a.m. EST followed by a service at 10 a.m. CST/11 a.m. EST.
