Post: CITY OF OPELIKA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT HIRES GRACE DARK, NEW PROJECT MANAGER OF WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

The City of Opelika is excited to announce that Grace Dark has joined the Opelika Economic Development team as the new Project Manager of Workforce Development.

“We are very fortunate to have Grace join our team. In her new role, Grace will be responsible for identifying and attracting talented individuals who will provide the workforce needed in today’s advanced manufacturing and innovative business environments. She will accomplish this by working with established partnerships with Opelika City Schools, Southern Union State Community College, Auburn University and Fort Benning Army Base, as well as expanding Opelika’s workforce initiatives to include other K-12 school systems and postsecondary institutions throughout the region,” said John Sweatman, Director of Opelika Economic Development.

“Grace’s experience and passion for connecting people with opportunities will make a significant difference in our community. I’m confident she will be a valuable asset to our team and the industries we serve,” said Ronnie Wilson, Chairman of the Opelika Industrial Development Authority.

Dark is originally from Auburn, Alabama, and graduated from Auburn University in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a minor in Human Resources. Before joining Opelika Economic Development, she completed a Human Resources internship with SiO2 Medical Products, was an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and Women in Business.

Grace attends First Baptist Church of Opelika, is actively involved in the community, participated in the 2024 FuelAL Internship Program for the Opelika-Auburn metro area, and is a member of Opelika Young Professionals.
