Carl’s life came to a close on August 2nd, 2025, at the age of 72. He was known by both names as Carl and Danny depending on your relationship with him. Danny pursued several careers throughout his life. He was a bull rider as a teen and into his twenties. He drove semi-trucks cross country; he was a heavy equipment operator and drove for a wrecker service in the Chambers County area. He was a lay preacher at his church in Opelika for a time. HIs faith had ups and downs as he went through many trials and tribulations.

Danny loved Nascar racing and went every year to Talladega. His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. He loved college football and was a huge Alabama fan. Gardening and canning were a passion for him as well. He had several Cocker Spaniels throughout his life and loved dogs of all kinds. His most recent are Boo, a yellow lab and Carley a German Shepherd. They followed him everywhere.

Danny’s wife Mary Linda Bishop Collins preceded him in death. She was the love of his life, and he mourned her daily until his death. His father, Carl Collins Jr. and mother, Margaret Adele Harvey also preceded him in death. Carl Danny had regrets throughout his life, one of which was the loss of a relationship with his children.
