05/09/1938 – 09/25/2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Richard Paul Spratlin, who departed this life peacefully at home on September 25, 2025, at 2:25 PM, surrounded by his loving family.
At just 18 years old, Richard enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country with honor and dedication. Following his military service, he continued a life of commitment and hard work, retiring from the City of Auburn in 2000 after many years of service.
Richard was known for his warm spirit, sharp sense of humor, and his love for collecting—he found joy in the little things and had a special appreciation for anything with a story to tell. His life was filled with purpose, love, and a deep connection to family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Spratlin; mother, Mary Burgess Spratlin; and brothers, Jack Spratlin and Frank Spratlin Jr.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Bass Spratlin; his loving daughters, Patricia Jackson (Dylan Jackson) and Kimberly Richmond (Michael Richmond); and six cherished grandchildren: Hunter Richmond, Logan Richmond, Claire Richmond, Lee Richmond, Cambree Jackson, and Michael Richmond Jr.
Richard also leaves behind many cousins and dear friends who meant the world to him.
A visitation will be held at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 30th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
The funeral service will take place at Garden Hills Cemetery on Wednesday, October 1st, at 11:00 AM.
We invite all who knew and loved Richard to join us in celebrating his life, honoring his service, and sharing treasured memories.
