February 20, 1949 ~ October 11, 2025 (age 76)
Paul Howard Coker, 76, of Valley, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on October 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 20, 1949, in Langdale, Alabama,
Paul was the son of the late Wilford and Maebelle Coker. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Bennie, Billy Joe, Cecil, Doyle, Mary Helen, Tilborn, and Tom.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Molly Coker of Valley, his steadfast partner and best friend. Together, they built a life filled with faith, laughter, and devotion to family. His love for Molly was steadfast — a constant source of strength, joy, and comfort throughout their many years together.
Paul is also survived by his children Steven (Heather) Coker of Valley and Joni (Jonah) House of Valley; and his greatest joys — his grandchildren Steven Coker Jr., Cole House, and Addy House. Being a father was Paul’s first and most cherished role. He dedicated himself to guiding, supporting, and encouraging his children through every stage of life. He took pride in their accomplishments, celebrated their milestones, and was always a source of wisdom, comfort, and encouragement. His love for Steven and Joni shaped who they are today and was the foundation of his life.
He also leaves behind his living siblings: Clara Jones, Jerry (Sarah) Coker, and Pam (Edward) Daniel, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever hold him dear.
Paul was an avid hunter and fisherman who found peace and joy in the great outdoors. Whether it was a quiet morning on the water, a day spent in the woods, or time on his tractor, nature and the land were where he felt closest to God. He was a simple man with a big heart — happiest when surrounded by his family, sharing laughter, stories, and love. Being “Paw Paw” was Paul’s proudest and happiest role.
He loved every moment spent with Steven Jr., Cole, and Addy — from teaching them to fish and hunt, to cheering them on at sports games, to sharing his favorite jokes and stories. He celebrated their successes, comforted them in hard times, and never missed an opportunity to let them know how special they were to him. His love for them was patient, steadfast, and filled with laughter, guidance, and gentle wisdom.
His grandchildren were truly the light of his life, and he reveled in the joy of seeing them grow and thrive. Paul devoted most of his professional career to West Point Pepperell and Uniroyal Goodrich, where he applied his skill, dedication, and strong work ethic every day.
Whether as a mechanic, electrician, or tinkerer, he took pride in his work, always striving for excellence and never shying away from a challenge. The care and attention he put into his work mirrored the love and commitment he poured into his family and community.
Paul loved his church family deeply and was faithful to serve and support those around him. His kindness, humor, and willingness to help anyone in need made him a friend to all. The Valley community loved and respected him, and his presence will be greatly missed by everyone who had the blessing of knowing him.
Paul’s legacy is one of love, faith, and laughter. He is now home with his Lord and Savior, whom he loved so dearly, and will be deeply missed by his family, his church, and his Valley community.
