OPELIKA- The Opelika Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Zyreon Zykeith Jones, who is wanted on an outstanding warrant for Assault, First Degree. The charge stems from an altercation that occurred on August 30, 2025. At approximately 11:54 pm, Opelika Police responded to the 3500 block of Dale Avenue for an assault with injuries.
Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old juvenile and 20-year-old Zyreon Jones suffering from gunshot wounds. Both subjects were transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional Medical Center in Columbus, GA. The juvenile was later transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA, for treatment. Both individuals have since been treated and released.
The investigation determined that an altercation involving multiple individuals took place, during which shots were fired. Officers have identified Zyreon Zykeith Jones as the person who shot the 16-year-old juvenile.
