Last week the City of Opelika in partnership with Southern Union State Community College hosted the Tunnel to Towers 9/11 NEVER FORGET Mobile Exhibit for its very first visit to Alabama.
Over 6 days, more than 6,300 visitors experienced this powerful tribute, guided by 7 incredible men from the Tunnel to Towers Foundation:
FDNY Battalion Chief John Bruckner
FDNY Battalion Chief Herb Penner
FDNY Lt. Tony Tomesheski
FDNY Firefighter Doug Adams
FDNY Firefighter Steve Spellman
Exhibit Ambassador Billy Puckett
FDNY Firefighter Matt Crowley
A heartfelt thank you to all of our sponsors who made this possible, especially LaFayette Fire Department Fire Chief Jim Doody, whose vision and drive brought this exhibit to Opelika.
During their stay, the 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit team was recognized at the Opelika Bulldog Football Homecoming Game, enjoyed a true southern feast prepared by Opelika’s own MasterChef Jr. Bryson “Cookin’ With Cheese Curd” McGlynn, and joined us for the Opelika Chamber Valor Awards, where they spoke about their experiences and witnessed local first responders being honored.
“This was an unforgettable week for our community, and we are deeply grateful to Tunnel to Towers for sharing their mission and their stories with us”, said the City of Opelika in a press release.
