It is with great sadness that we pause to honor the life of Brenda Joy Richardson. She passed away peacefully at the age of 68, after a courageous battle with cancer, on September 2, 2025 at her home surrounded by her sons.
Born March 1, 1957 in Valley, Alabama and raised in Lanett, Alabama. Brenda was a life-long Chamber’s County native whose motherly nature extended to any and all associated with her kids.
Before retiring Brenda was a well known waitress. She loved serving her customers and that love extended to anyone she met. She had a profound love for gardening and animals, especially her puppies.
But to know Brenda is to know her true love was her husband, Jim and their boys. Brenda was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Her love never showed judgement, her home and heart were open to anyone that met her. She was “Mama” to any and everyone she met. Brenda’s love extended from neighborhood kids to adults that needed that motherly guidance.
She leaves behind a large, loving family, her Son’s J.P Richardson, Josh (Brittany) Richardson, Wade (Kelsey) Richardson, Stepson Shane (Christy) Richardson, Sister Linda Saxon Dempsey, Brother in-law Stevie Richardson, Sister in-law Kay Dodgen, Special Nieces Alexa Saxon and Lauren Dempsey. Nephew Rob Dodgen, 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren along with a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, please plant something in your garden, share a story with a loved one or call a friend. That’s how Brenda would have kept spreading joy.
