Charles Olin Poole, affectionately known to all as Charlie, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at his residence in Lanett, AL. Born on January 19, 1935, Charlie’s 90-year journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and hard work.

Charlie’s early years were beautifully woven into the history of Lanett, where the enduring values of family and community were instilled in him by his late parents, Harvey and Lorene Poole. He carried these values throughout his life, enriching the lives of those he touched. Charlie’s beloved wife, Janice, was his partner in life’s dance for 72 cherished years. Together, they raised a family that expanded to include their children: Connie, Shann and her husband David Jones, Donna and her husband Thomas Ogle, and Ken and his wife Nancy. Charlie was blessed to see his legacy grow with seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will hold his memory dear.

Professionally, Charlie dedicated 41 years of service to Uniroyal, displaying an unparalleled work ethic and commitment. Even beyond his work, he never ceased to contribute to his community, serving as a statistician for Lanett High Schools Football teams for 25 years, an experience that brought him immense joy and fulfillment.

Charlie’s passions were a vivid reflection of his character. His love for Lanett High School Football was unwavering, just as his mentoring spirit found a home coaching little league sports. Charlie was also a diehard Auburn Football fan, rarely missing a game and always ready to cheer on his team. Summers found him rooting for the Atlanta Braves, and on race days, his loyalty to Dale Earnhart Sr. was unmatched. Above all, his role as a loving husband and father was evident to all who knew him.

Charlie Poole leaves behind a legacy of steadfast love and unwavering dedication, characteristics that will forever be treasured and emulated by his family, friends, and the Lanett community that he so dearly loved. Charlie’s journey through life has reached its sunset, but the light he left behind continues to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
