Post: CCSD, Lanett 85 Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of GA. Man Charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault & Arson
On Labor Day, the Lanett Police, with assistance from the Chambers County Sheriff’s Department, brought in a fugitive after a traffic stop.
Lanett Police Chief McCain reports that Officer Ledesma, of the Lanett Police Department, conducted a traffic stop just off Interstate 85 in Lanett, Chambers County, Alabama, which resulted in the arrest of 44-year-old Shawn Fails.
Fails is wanted in connection with a tragic apartment fire that occurred in the early morning hours of Monday in DeKalb County, Georgia. This devastating incident claimed the life of a woman and left her son injured.
Fails was taken into custody on a Fugitive from Justice charge and is currently being held at the Chambers County Detention facility pending an extradition hearing. He faces charges in DeKalb County for murder, aggravated assault, and arson.
The Lanett Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the family affected by this heartbreaking incident. Chief McCain also expresses her gratitude to all law enforcement partners whose cooperation and dedication led to the safe apprehension of the suspect.
