Post: Lanny Bledsoe Unveils Latest and Final Book

Local author Lanny Bledsoe held a book signing for his latest and final novel, ” Go South Yankee A Shoal Creek Saga,” on Saturday at the Fairfax Village Antique Market.

Bledsoe began writing right after COVID-19 began spreading and has written 12 books based on life experiences growing up in Chambers County. The final installment is about a young man adjusting to life in the rural South after moving from the big city of Boston.

“When I was working with West Point Stevens, we dealt with people in Boston and New York for sales and design work. They would come down here to work with us on various projects, and, of course, there were some cultural differences. For instance, they couldn’t understand why we didn’t have a taxi, etc., but we did strike a common bond over catfish, which they were not privileged to being from north of the Mason-Dixon line”, said Bledsoe.

Bledsoe’s last book was about growing up in Riverview, which was a prelude to his latest book.

“This book is really about a father in Boston who was having trouble with his son and sent him to the Valley. The son comes down here and gets into all sorts of stuff, because as we all know, Boston is a lot different from Alabama”, added Bledsoe.

The book is a work of fiction, but it is loosely based on the author’s real-life experiences growing up in the Valley.

” Go South Yankee: A Shoal Creek Saga”, along with the other books in the series, is available at Fairfax Village Anique Market and Amazon.
