Post: Opelika PD Charges Three in String on Recent Robberies
The Opelika Police Department has arrested several individuals in connection with robbery investigations. On June 26, 2025, Opelika Police responded to a Robbery that occurred at Color Vision Rent to Own located at 3412 Pepperell Parkway. The victim reported meeting two males in the parking lot to sell a firearm; the two males agreed to buy the firearm and drove away to get cash. When the males returned, there was a third male present, and during the transaction, one of the suspects pointed a firearm at the victim before leaving with the money and the for-sale firearm. The investigation led to the arrest of 20-year-old Kenyan Dashun Vann from Opelika, AL, for Robbery, First Degree on June 30, 2025. On August 20, 2025, a 17-year-old juvenile from Auburn, AL, was arrested for Robbery, First Degree stemming from the same incident.
On August 18, 2025, Officers responded to the 3500 Block of Dale Avenue for an armed robbery. Two individuals reported that they were driving in the area when a U-Haul truck went around their vehicle and stopped, blocking their path. Two suspects exited the truck, and one pointed a firearm at them and demanded money. After the robbery, both suspects fled the scene in the U-Haul truck.

On August 20, 2025, Opelika Detectives executed search warrants and arrested the following individuals on charges of Robbery, First Degree:
• Corey Sheve Cooper, 40 years old from Opelika, AL
• Justin Martinez Monrell McGhee, 22 years old from Opelika, AL
Vann, Cooper and McGhee were all taken to the Lee County Justice Center.
