CHAMBERS COUNTY – LaFayette, Lanett and Valley all three held municipal elections Tuesday. These results are unofficial and will be canvassed and made official on Sept. 2.
In Valley, Incumbant Mayor Leonard Riley earned 918 votes, 68%, in Valley and will remain in his position. Riley has been Mayor of Valley for the past 12 years.
“Tonight I am humbled by the support this community has shown me,” Riley said. “I am ready to continue the progress weve made in Valley.”
His opponent Allison Banks received 427 or 32% of the vote.
In District 1, the incumbant Jim Clark was re-elected to his seat. Out of the 232 votes cast in District 1, he won with% 78of the votes while Bo Colley received 22% of the votes.
In District 4, there will be a runoff between Desmond Reece and the incumbant Marquetta Madden with Reece receiving 39%, Madden 37% and Jeffery Finch 22%
District 6, Jolanda Barnes beat her opponents , the beat her opponents, the incumbant Henry Cooper and LC Marshall for the District 6 seat. Barnes received 55% votes against Marshall’s 34% and Cooper’s 11%.
