Post: Linda Sorrells Brown Obituary

October 31, 1968 ~ May 31, 2025 (age 56)

Linda Sorrells Brown, affectionately known to all who loved her as Linda, entered into eternal peace on the 31st of May 2025, at the age of 56. Born on Halloween day in 1968, in the quaint town of Valley, Alabama, Linda’s life was a tapestry woven with love, faith, and kindness. She passed away surrounded by the warmth of her family in Opelika, Alabama, leaving behind a legacy of tenderness and generosity.

Linda’s early life in Valley fostered in her a spirit of community and belonging which she carried throughout her life. A proud graduate of Valley High School in 1989, she embodied the values instilled in her during those formative years, becoming a person known for her open heart and willingness to give. Linda dedicated many years of diligent service at Baxter, where her colleagues respected her for her work ethic and genuine nature.

Family was the cornerstone of Linda’s life. She is survived by her loving father, E.R. “Babe” Sorrells, her cherished children, Justin (Elana) Brown and Deidra (Jesse) O’Neal, and the apples of her eye—her grandchildren Michael and Josh O’Neal. Linda was a sister and confidante to Wanda Sorrells, Amanda (Nathen) Fuller, and Angie (Shane Reeves) Sorrells. Her nieces and nephews, Richard (Tammy) Dunn, Brent Fuller, Nicole Fuller, along with her adored cat Precious, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, also feel the profound loss of Linda’s departure. Preceded in death by her loving mother Mary Sorrells and sister Glenda Dunn, Linda now reunites with them in a place of everlasting joy.

Linda was a lifelong resident of Lanett, Alabama, where she became an integral part of the community and a devout member of Osanippa Baptist Church. Her recently renewed and fervent faith was a testament to her belief in the goodness and grace of Jesus. Those who knew Linda describe her as very loving, kind, and generous qualities that shone brightly through her actions and her gentle, soft-spoken manner. She was known for her passionate love for the music of Rick Springfield, a joy for reading, and an unwavering devotion to her faith, which she celebrated every Saturday night at her beloved gospel church gatherings.

Linda Sorrells Brown’s memory will forever be cherished not only in the stories told but also in the silence of hearts once warmed by her presence. Her kindness infused life into every space she graced, and her generosity knew no bounds. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit of love and compassion remains a beacon for all who had the fortune to cross her path. Linda’s journey on earth was a testament to a life well-lived, full of love, faith, and a spirit that touched many. She will be profoundly missed and eternally remembered as a blessing to her family, her friends, and her community.
