Last Wednesday, The City of West Point along with the West Point Downtown Development Authority, and members of the community celebrated the holidays with the inaugural Christmas Lighting from Lanier Park as the beautiful white lights lit up the night.
“The Downtown Town Development Authority has been wanting to do this, and this year really made a push to make this an annual event. The tree actually belongs to them along with the lights, the wrapping, and ice cycles in the downtown area, this will now be here year after year”, said Tramell.
Also in attendance for the inaugural tree lighting was Miss West Point 2023
Elise Higgins, who made the trip from nearby Columbus, Ga. for the spectacular event
“I had an absolute blast at the West Point Christmas Tree lighting! This is such a close-knit community and I’m so thankful to have the opportunity to represent this amazing town at Miss Georgia in June.
I also had the pleasure of meeting the Mayor of West Point while I was there.
This community is so welcoming to everyone. If you want some Christmas lights to look at I highly recommend you go to downtown West Point. It is stunning”, said Higgins.
The tree will be stored above Johnny’s Pizza and will be displayed in West Point for years to come.
