Some things are just meant to be and for the LaFayette Boys Basketball Team, a showdown with Lanett seemed inevitable, but to make that happen they had to take care of business first. On Tuesday, that business was handled with a 69-44 win over the Reeltown Rebels on Tuesday.
Martavian Dunn led a balanced LaFayette scoring attack with 14 points. Four LaFayette players scored double digits to give Bulldog Head Basketball Coach Chase Lweis the balance he needed on the offensive end.
“Tonight we were able to control the game flow and push the tempo. Tonight I felt we were in attack mode. We fed off turnovers, which led to good transition baskets. We looked good in our halfcourt set, and defensively we were able to create havoc. Tonight we turned on a little bit, and it made me proud”, said Lewis.
The win was special, because not only did they clinch a spot sub-regional round in Jacksonville., but they also get another shot at Lanett who beat them last month on a buzzer-beater.
“We are ready to play Lanett. We have a lot of respect for them, they are battle testing, they have been here before and I think it is going to be a great match-up, but we wanted this game”, added Lewis.
LaFayette will host Lanett on Thursday for the Area Championship.
