After both teams scored four runs in the first inning, Callaway pushed what turned out to be the winning run across in the bottom of the second. Neither team scored after the second inning as Callaway improved to 6-2 and unfortunately for the Rams, remained winless on the young season at 0-5.
CJ Stephens was the starting pitcher for Callaway, and after the tough first inning, he settled in and threw three scoreless innings. Brantin Swanson was brilliant in relief, pitching three perfect innings to finish it. Landon Alsobrook had two hits and an RBI, Blake Sheppard had a hit and two RBIs, Luke Taylor had a hit and an RBI, Julian Dukes had an RBI, Bryce Hubbard had a hit and a walk, and Houston Wilson walked and scored the go-ahead run in the second inning.
For Valley, Seth Hammock and Trevor Rudd reach had a hit and an RBI. Seth Hammock started and pitched four innings, and CJ Chambley threw two scoreless innings in relief. After Valley scored four runs in the top of the first, Callaway came right back with four runs in the bottom of the inning to tie it, before taking the lead on Luke Taylor’s sacrifice fly in the second inning. Blake Sheppard and Landon Alsobrook had back-to-back RBI singles in the first inning, and Julian Dukes tied it with an RBI sacrifice bunt.
