LANETT- Last Thursday, Lanett Mayor Jamie Heard and Council passed a Resolution to approve emergency clarifier repairs at the Water Treatment Plant.
“The original bid was for roughly $110,000 to refurbish the clarifier. After a lot of the demolition was being done to do this refurbishment, they had to remove a lot of the old piping that was in the original contract to replace. As they started removing the upper cage in the dispersion well it exposed the upper cage and they found a lot of structural damage. This piece of equipment is about fifty years old and they were hoping that when they did the bid that the structural integrity within the framework was ok, and unfortunately it is not.”, said Jeff Aston, Area Manager with Clear Water Solutions.
The cost for the emergency clarifier repairs is an estimated $57,000 in addition to the $110,000 for the refurbishment of the clarifier.
