Mr. Woodrow Fisher, Jr., 85, of Auburn died Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Arbor Springs Health & Rehab. Center, Opelika. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at New Zion Baptist Church, 1516 44th Ave. SW, Lanett, AL at 1:00 p.m. (EST) with Rev. Willie C. Atkinson & Rev. Jackie Banks officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church from 12:00 p.m. (EST) until the funeral hour. Public viewing will be Friday, August 2, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (EST) at Vines Funeral Home.
Mr. Fisher was a member of the New Zion Baptist Church, Lanett where he served as a deacon. He also served his country with distinction and honor for 26 years in the United States Army. One of his last positions with the military was as a Bradley System Engineer & Instructor. After retiring from the military, he continued his career in civil service as an Equipment Specialist, still going wherever the military sent him until his retirement in 2005. Mr. Fisher is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Rena E. Fisher; daughter: Valerie Rosano, Orange, VA; stepdaughter: Michelle (Lino) Ortiz, Auburn; four sons: Gary Fisher, Madison; Christopher (Laurie) Fisher, Sachse, TX; Steven (Ana) Fisher, Adelanto, CA; and Fred Madison, Luverne; stepson: Christopher Johnson, Jr., Panama City, FL; one sister: Annie Marie Foster, Aurora, OH; one sister-in-law: Earnestine “Maull” Fisher, Lapine; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
