On February 25th, 2025 at approximately 11:32 PM, Lee County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 200 block of Lee Rd. 375 in the Valley community of Lee County in reference to someone being shot. Upon arrival, deputies observed a male subject laying in the yard waving his arms. The subject had visible injuries on his right side to include his torso, leg, arm and hand that all appeared to be from birdshot from a shotgun. The victim stated he was shot by his next door neighbor who he had been in a verbal altercation with earlier in the night. EMS arrived on the scene and transported the victim to Piedmont Medical Center in Columbus Georgia to be treated for his injuries.
On March 6th, 2025, Jerry Franklin Jacobs (46) from Valley admitted to the shooting. He was arrested by Lee County Investigators and charged with Assault in the First Degree. He has since been released after posting a $50,000.00 bond.
