LAFAYETTE—On Tuesday, Dr. Sharon Weldon was sworn in as the new Superintendent of Chambers County Schools in front of family, friends, and colleagues as well as local media including the Chambers Ledger.
Chambers County Probate Judge Paul Story administered the oath of office on a very special day for Weldon as the school district and the county.
The ceremony began with remarks from Weldon’s husband and former Valley Police Chief Tommy Weldon who expressed his gratitude for the support as he welcomed the crowd. He concluded with his rendition of “Master, Thou Callest”.
Following opening remarks, Dr. Weldon was sworn in with the Oath of Office for Superintendant of the Chambers County School District.
The ceremony concluded with Dr. Weldon inviting local ministers to pray over the Chambers County School District, the Board and the community. Afterward everyone was invited for a meet and greet with Superintendent Weldon as she ushers in a new era for the school district.
Weldon will hit the ground running as the Board will turn it’s attention to the School Consolidation and accoding to our sources a meeting with Honorable Distict Judge W. Keith Watkins on January 28th on the direction the school district will go.
