A 14-year-old juvenile from Montgomery, AL, was arrested by Opelika Police for Making a Terroristic Threat, on 10/23/2024. The felony charge is related to the lockdown that occurred at Opelika High School on 10/22/2024 after someone called in a threat that they were on their way to shoot up the school. Opelika Police Detectives, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), were able to trace the phone to a residence in Montgomery. Detectives and members of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) executed a search warrant at the juvenile’s residence where they recovered the cell phone in the teen’s possession. The juvenile was arrested and transported to Opelika where they are currently incarcerated at the Lee County Youth Development Center. The initial investigation indicates that there was no plan to carry out the threat. Detectives are continuing to investigate the juvenile’s connection to Opelika.
