The Lanett Panthers edged out Bullock County 14-13 in front of a home crowd at Morgan-Washburn Stadium giving new Head Coach R.J. McDonald his first win in a tight contest.
The Panther leaned on a potent rushing attack led by Keondae Huguley who carried 18 times for 66 yards, and Fred Broughton who rushed for 26 yards on 3 carries and two trips to the endzone.
Panther Alajawon Whitfield had an all-around fantastic game with 3 carries for 15 yards, 2 catches for 51 yards, and on defense 10 tackles with an interception. Lanett’s Nadarious Morgan led the Panther’s defense with 14 tackles.
We played hard all night and faced some tough adversity. I am really proud of the guys for sticking through and their effort was off the charts. Bullock County is a good football team and extremely well-coached. We made some mistakes and will get back to work this week to clean that up” said McDonald.
This week Lanett travels to Beulah in a showdown with the Bobcats.
