Post: Franklin “Frankie” Chappell Obituary

Franklin Virgil Chappell, affectionately known as Frankie to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024, in Cusseta, AL, at the age of 58. Born on March 29, 1966, in Valley, AL, Frankie was a man whose infectious laughter and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Frankie’s life was a testament to the love he had for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Alana Chappell; his proud sons, Jamie, Brett, and Dokata (Kody) Arabie; his cherished grandchild, Jamison Chappell; his loving mother, Jessie (Cooter) Magbee; his father, Charles (Mary) Chappell; and his caring brother, Lee (Stephanie) Chappell. He will also be fondly remembered by his nephews, Jonathan, Jarad, Jackson Chappell, and Justin Chadwick; as well as his in-laws, Anthony (Cindy) Chadwick and sister-in-law, Jennifer Chadwick. Frankie was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Colene Chadwick, and brother-in-law, Ashley Chadwick.

Frankie’s professional life was marked by his dedication and hard work. His career was as diverse as his interests, and he was an active member of various associations throughout his life. Frankie never met a stranger, and his ability to make the best of bad situations was unparalleled. He was a jokester at heart, always ready with a quip or a smile to lighten the mood.

An avid fan of Alabama football, NASCAR, and a devoted caretaker to his cats, Frankie’s passions were many. He cherished his 1969 Camaro, which he built with his own hands at the tender age of 16 in trade school. His love for storm chasing was as fervent as his love for his family.

Frankie was a loving, wise, and funny man. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who valued both old and new friendships. His heart of gold and his unwavering ability to love and laugh will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Franklin Virgil Chappell’s legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of his loved ones and the many lives he touched.
