Linda Kelly Butts, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away on August 10th, 2024, in Valley, Alabama. She was born on November 12th, 1948, in the same town where she spent most of her life.
Linda is survived by her loving mother Mary Kenady; her two sons Chad (Robin) Butts, Randall (Mandy) Butts, her cherished grandchildren Ryleigh Butts, Caitlyn (Andrew) Anthony, Jaci (Jesse) Lee; as well as her great-grandchildren Emma, Leigha, and Asher Anthony, and Charlotte and soon to arrive baby girl Lee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Butts, and her fathers, John A. Kenady and Thomas B. Kelly, Jr.
Throughout Linda’s life she found a joy in simple pleasures such as cheering on her Auburn Tigers, or spending time at the beach with family. Sunday lunches were always a special occasion for Linda, as it brought her family together in her home.
Her faith played an important role in Linda’s life as she was an active lifetime member of Langdale Methodist Church. Her involvement included participation in dinner church, sweet hour of prayer group, along with card groups, mission minded mamas, Maya Sunday school class and retirement group meetings.
A graduate of Valley High School 1967 – Linda will be remembered for her delicious buttermilk pies and squash casserole, which will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
As we mourn this loss, we can take comfort in knowing that Linda’s journey has come to an end, but not without leaving behind beautiful memories that will continue to unfold within our hearts forevermore.
Funeral services for Linda will be held on Tuesday, August 13th, 2024, at 12:00 Noon (EDT) at Langdale Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Johnson Memorial Gardens. Pastors Todd Owen and Tim Alexander will officiate. Linda’s family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 11:00 AM (EDT) until the service hour at the church.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials can be made to Langdale Methodist Church in her memory.
