VALLEY- It was an absolutely electric atmosphere on Saturday afternoon at Valley High, as the home-standing Rams put their unbeaten record on the line against the Callaway Cavaliers. In a hard-fought game before a packed house in the Valley gym, the Rams earned a 63-56 victory to finish off a perfect 27-0 perfect regular season, and congratulations to the players and coaches on that remarkable accomplishment.
Jamarious Martin, who has enjoyed a fantastic senior season, led Valley with 18 points while making three 3-pointers. Junior guard Cam’ron Dooley added 17 points, and junior post player Brandon Thomas scored 14 points while delivering a handful of fan-pleasing dunks. Tyrus Edwards paced Callaway with 15 points while making four 3-pointers, including two in the closing moments that kept his team in the game.
DeShun Coleman contributed 13 points, and he scored 12 of those points in the second half to help the Cavaliers stay within shouting distance. Bryceton Sanders scored 11 points, and Javontae Parker was 4-for-4 on free throws while scoring six points.
What a season it has been for the Rams, and they’ll be one of the favorites to win it all in Class AAAAA in Alabama. For Callaway, it was a tough loss, but it was nonetheless an inspired effort against a formidable opponent. Only four of Valley’s games this season have been decided by single digits, and two of those games were against Callaway.
Valley will try and continue its winning ways against Tallassee in the Area Championship Game on Thursday.
