On Monday, the Chambers Academy Lady Girl’s Basketball Team season came to a disappointing end in the Elite 8 as the Sparta Lady Warriors defeated them 60-25 bringing an end to their season. Although disappointed with the outcome, Head Coach Jeff Hines was proud of the way his girls competed and showed tough resilience.
“Tonight we were just in an uphill climb. We just dug ourselves too deep of a hole to start. We came in at halftime and tried to get back in it, but give Sparta credit their a deep team and ultimately they just wore us down”, said Hines.
The Lady Rebels, who were a young team this year will return next year with a group of ladies ready to compete for a possible state championship run.
“We started this year 0-6. 2-7 after nine games and a lot of teams would have folded, but we just competed and stuck with the process. These girls wound up going 11-6 the rest of the way and finished with a 13-13 record with a berth in the Elite 8. I am proud of these girls and I am proud of this program”, added Hines.
Chambers Academy will return 5 Seniors next year and a strong group of Juniors and underclassmen. The future is no doubt bright for Lady Rebels Basketball.
As for the boys, their season also came to an end in the Elite 8 with a loss to Patrician Academy. Like the girls, they too will return a solid group next year that will no doubt be ready to compete for a possible State Championship run.
